TICKLE, RCH SOARING EAGLE/JIMMY JOHNS/SUZUKI FACTORY RACING EIGHTH IN HOUSTON

April 11, 2015

HOUSTON, TX – Broc Tickle continued his reign as the king of consistency after logging a respectable eighth-place finish in Saturday night’s Monster Energy Supercross, an FIM World Championship, at NRG Stadium.

The solid effort was Tickle’s ninth straight and 11th overall top-10 finish of the season. The solid ride powered the Holly, Mich., resident from ninth to eighth in points with three races remaining on the 2015 Supercross schedule.

“For the most part, I feel like we had a good night,” commented Tickle. “I felt like I picked up some intensity after having some time off. I got to ride with Cooper Webb and Aaron Plessinger over the break and I think riding motos with them helped me a little bit. I had better speed then I’d had in some of the previous weeks.”

The 2011 Supercross West Coast Lites Champion was ninth- and fifth-fastest, respectively, in his two qualifying sessions Saturday afternoon and parlayed that into a sixth-place finish in the second 450SX heat race later that night.

With only the top-four finishers in each heat being locked into the main event, Tickle had to race his way through the second semifinal – where he finished second – to secure a spot on the starting gate for the 14th points race of the year.

The 25-year-old Supercross veteran was mid-pack out of the starting gate and 11th by lap two. Tickle was shuffled as far back as 13th but made forward progress throughout the remainder of the 20-lap main event. By lap 6 he was 12th and inside the top 10 for good at the halfway mark. Over the remaining 10 circuits, the rider of the No. 20 Soaring Eagle/Jimmy Johns/Suzuki Factory Racing RM-Z450 would lock down two more spots to ultimately finish eighth.

“We made some changes throughout the day and my bike was working really well,” added Tickle. “The main didn’t go as planned but I felt like there were still some positives. I made a couple passes in the beginning but I got a little flustered when (Davi) Millsaps and I came together and I kind of lost my groove. It’s frustrating because I had good speed all day. So, for us, we just need to go back home and have a good week, go to Santa Clara (Calif.) and see if we can improve.”

Cole Seely won the race while Ryan Dungey finished second to secure the series title with three races remaining.

Monster Energy Supercross heads for the Bay Area this weekend where the series will visit Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. Round 15 will be televised live on Fox Sports 1 Sat., April 18 beginning at 10 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, 7 p.m. Pacific.
