SUZUKI SUPPORTS 3RD ANNUAL RICKY CARMICHAEL DAYTONA AMATEUR SUPERCROSS WITH ALMOST $20K IN CONTINGENCY

February 8, 2012

BREA, CA (February 8, 2012) – American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC) is proud to offer amateur racers riding Suzuki models more than $18,000 in contingency at the 3rd Annual Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross. This prestigious event, schedule for March 11 - 12, includes two full days of amateur racing at Daytona International Speedway, following Saturday’s AMA/FIM Supercross at Daytona Beach, FL.

“American Suzuki has enjoyed a long and successful relationship with legendary racer Ricky Carmichael,” said Pat Alexander, ASMC amateur race support manager. “We are honored and excited to support Carmichael’s event. Suzuki’s support will be in full affect this year because we’re offering double contingency. A total of $18,900 will be up for grabs. We’ll also have our trackside support on hand to keep our amateur competitors in top racing form.”

In addition to posting a double contingency program at this particular event, Suzuki will have their amateur trackside support team on hand to assist Suzuki riders. Additionally, Suzuki is excited about this event because they plan to preview some preliminary information about an upcoming training program called Suzuki Camp Carmichael.

“Suzuki is very excited about the potential of Suzuki Camp Carmichael,” said Alexander. “Over the years, our factory-supported Supercross and Motocross teams have come to rely on Carmichael’s extensive expertise and advice. Now, we want to share that with our amateur riders. The goal is for Suzuki Camp Carmichael to be a unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience where young riders can train with the GOAT at his personal facility in Florida. So get your bikes prepped, and get ready to race, because 2012 is going to be the year to be on a Suzuki!”

This year’s expanded race schedule features longer races and practices, with more class options, to give racers more track time over the course of the weekend. The RCSX class structure includes classes for youth riders on 50cc bikes all the way up to vet and senior classes. The race will follow a supercross format, using heat races and last chance qualifiers to seed the field of riders into a main event in each class, over the course of two days. Unlike the Loretta Lynn Ranch format, riders do not need to qualify at other races in order to participate in the Daytona event.

Stay tuned for the announcement of ASMC’s complete 2012 Contingency Program.
